Repair or replace? Know the difference.

Repair a crack in your windshield if you can. It saves time, money, and is environmentally friendly. But how do you know if it can be repaired? Here are three rules to know:

• The size of the crack should be now bigger than a toonie.
• The point of impact must be at least 4 cm from the edge of the windshield.
• The point of impact must not be in the driver’s field of vision (an area 30 cm wide above the middle of the steering wheel.

Any crack in your windshield weakens the glass and can cause glare from sunlight, oncoming headlights, and will grow in size over time, creating potentially hazardous driving conditions.
